How it works
The image is drawn onto a canvas at your chosen size with high-quality smoothing, then encoded to the format you picked. When aspect lock is on, changing one dimension recalculates the other from the original proportions, so nothing gets stretched.
A practical tip: resize first, then compress. Shrinking a 4000-pixel photo to 800 pixels already throws away most of the bytes; compressing the small result afterwards gives you a clean, tiny file. Doing it the other way round — compressing the giant original and then resizing — costs quality you can't get back.
Limitation: enlarging a small image doesn't add detail. A 300-pixel icon scaled to 1200 pixels will look soft no matter what this tool does — resizing rearranges the pixels you have, it can't invent new ones.
