How it works

All the harmony math happens in HSL, where a colour's hue is a position on a 0–360° wheel. Complementary takes the colour opposite yours; analogous takes its neighbours; triadic and tetradic space colours evenly around the wheel; shades keeps your hue and walks the lightness from dark to light. Each rule returns five or six colours, light and dark variants included.

The honest limit: these rules are starting points, not verdicts. A mathematically perfect triad can still look wrong in a real layout, and "Random" deliberately ignores your base colour. Use the palettes as raw material, then trust your eyes — and run any text pair through the Contrast Checker before shipping it.
